GREEN ROSE CHAFER BEETLE (NP8210)

Green rose chafers are capable of very fast flight; they do it with their wing cases down thus resembling a bumble bee. They feed on flowers, nectar and pollen, in particular roses (from where they get their name); which is where they can be found on warm sunny days, between May and June/July, occasionally to September. The green rose chafer is ¾ in. long, and has metallic green coloration. Our Hand Puppet version is 8 inches in length.

This spider's bite is much feared because its venom is reported to be 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake's. In humans, contrary to popular belief, most people who are bitten suffer no serious damage—let alone death.
